Heart of the Rockies Radio Annual ’80s Party Was Completely Rad

Friday, Nov. 18, opened a rip in the time-space continuum at the SteamPlant in Salida. ‘Gathered’ Exhibit Opens in Salida

Bright colors, contrasting textures and dramatic tonal qualities characterize Gathered, the latest exhibit at Sellars Project Space in Salida. Visual artists and Project Space partners Jimmy Sellars and Mark Monroe opened their exhibit with an artists’ reception Saturday, and the exhibit will remain on display through Jan. 9, 2017. Monroe said his work includes the black-and-white prints and the ones with more muted colors while Sellars’ prints exhibit bright colors enhanced through digital post-processing. Western Slope wordsmiths Valerie Haugen and Kim Nuzzo will read from their writings during Poetry Night Sunday, Nov. 20, at Café Dawn, 203 W. First St. in Salida. As associate artistic director and a founding member of Carbondale’s Thunder River Theatre Company, Haugen has a passion for words, poetry and theater.
