Bands include Sol Seed, Blue Recluse, Hazy Fate

Art Walk isn’t just for visual arts lovers. Free live music is another hallmark of one of the most popular weekends in Salida; visitors and locals alike won’t have to look far to find a few tunes to enjoy when Art Walk rolls around again beginning today.

The biggest challenge will be choosing where to listen, but Salida Council for the Arts President Sue Ann Hum encourages Art Walk attendees to take it all in instead. “Don’t decide on just one music event; start at one gallery and then keep strolling on to the next one.”

One signature “not-to-miss” music event Hum said to watch for during Art Walk is Jamaican-style reggae band Sol Seed’s return to Soulcraft Brewing Company at 9 p.m. Saturday evening. Get a two-for-one beer coupon around town for this Art After Dark event for every $25 worth of art purchased from local artists.

Meander through historic downtown Saturday night from 6 to 9 p.m. for the Art Walk artists’ receptions while enjoying live music at the same time at a few of the galleries. Spots where you’ll find tunes include: The Maverick Potter, 119 F St.; Space Cadets and Earth Tribe Celebration at Sutty’s Downtown Records & Arts, 110 E. First St.; WanderLust Road’s high energy gypsy folk at Café Dawn, 203 W. First St.; hammered dulcimer and djembe drumming by Bruce Warren and Eric Heltzel at Interior Living Designs, 138 W. First St.; and Red Tischer’s flamenco chill guitar stylings at Gallery 150, 150 W. First St.

As if this weren’t enough, Hum said numerous other live music events are slated for the weekend in both downtown Salida and Poncha Springs.
