The Alliance will host its 33rd annual fund-raising event, Chocolate Lover’s Fantasy – A Night of True Decadence, Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Buena Vista Community Center.
It is the organization’s longest-standing event, and advocates and volunteers of the Alliance, formerly known as the Alliance Against Domestic Abuse, hope it will be their largest fund-raiser of the year.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to anyone who would like to come and enjoy this sweet pre-Valentine’s extravaganza. Tickets are $25 and available at all High Country Bank locations and both Salida and Buena Vista’s chambers of commerce.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample various chocolates, appetizers and libations provided by local businesses and residents. There will also be a short program about services the Alliance provides for the county and a presentation by a local citizen who has been helped by this organization. Live music by Red Tischer and Keeper Koepplinger will follow.
The chocolate centerpieces and designs are a part of a table sponsor contest in which community members and businesses try to outshine each other with their baking and decorating abilities. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite table display while enjoying the entertainment, sweets and drinks. Table sponsors include Salida Elks Lodge, Ark Valley High Rollers, Seasons Cafe, Simple Eatery, Judy Somers LPL Financial BV, the Law Office of Dennis A Kist, and Alliance volunteers.
Financial supporters include High Country Bank, Sangre de Cristo Electric, Collegiate Peaks Bank, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center and Grace Church of Buena Vista. The food and sweet treats will be provided by The Bounty, Sweetie’s Sandwich Shop, Moonlight Pizza, Grimo’s Italian Restaurant, Thai Mini Cafe and Amicas Pizza. Libations will be courtesy of Eddyline Brewing, Buena Vista Roastery, Little Daisy Liquor and Soulcraft Brewing.
Another exciting aspect of the event is the silent auction, which features a wide array of prizes thanks to many generous local businesses and artists. Intriguing items include lift tickets, gift baskets, gift certificates and artwork. The two major prizes up for grabs are getaway vacations for four to Cabo San Lucas and Tuscany!
Event coordinator Maggie Frasure said it is exciting to see it all come together and she enjoys being a part of the community support.
“I am the independent event coordinator hired by the Alliance for this event, but this is a team effort. There are many staff and volunteers who put lots of hours in to make this a successful event. A fund-raiser of this magnitude allows The Alliance to have unrestricted dollars that can go to the areas of most need,” said Frasure. “I am looking forward to seeing everyone come together and have a great time!”
