Elevation Beer Company will celebrate five years of business with a free show by Trout Steak Revival, food by Rustingram Catering, a new barrel tap and a brand-new celebratory IPA. The event will be at the brewery, mostly outdoors, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 20.
Co-founder and director of brewery operations Christian Koch said Trout Steak Revival originally performed locally at Salida Cafe about six months before the brewery opened. Koch said they asked the band if they’d come back in six months to play their grand opening party. The band agreed and has played every anniversary party since, plus a few shows in between.
“This is probably their seventh time playing at the brewery,” Koch said. “It’s a nice tradition. It’s been fun to get to know these guys over a bunch of years. Also, they’ve developed a pretty good following in this area.” Trout Steak will hit the outdoor stage at 2 p.m. “We love Trout Steak. They put on a really great, high-energy show, and they’re super nice people on top of that.”
The five-year anniversary IPA will feature hops imported from Nelson, New Zealand. “We were lucky to find the New Zealand hops from our current hop supplier in Yakima, Wash.,” he said. “The hops are very fruity in nature with a lot of tropical and citrus characteristics.”
Koch and co-founder Carlin Walsh recently presented expansion plans during a Poncha Springs town meeting. Koch said they are “still working on expansion plans. It’s a pretty slow process. We’re still working on securing a location. Ultimately, we aim to have a big campus with a great community feel. We really want to make it an attraction and hopefully encourage other business to develop around that.”
