River City Nomads To Be Featured at Poetry Live @ the Paquette
The River City Nomads, based in Salida, will be the featured poets at Poetry Live @ the Paquette on Sunday, December 16 at 7 pm. Blending pathos and humor with theatrical flourishes and fine storytelling, this Nomadic poetry troupe made up of five accomplished poets presents performances that are powerful, poignant, and often hilarious. Together since 2004, the poets are Laurie James, Lynda La Rocca, Lawton Eddy, Craig Nielson and Peter Anderson.
Each of the Nomads writes from a strong sense of place with a distinctive voice, generating finely nuanced and richly imagined characters and landscapes that fit together into a poetic jigsaw puzzle in performances that are truly memorable. For fourteen years they have performed at venues throughout Colorado to many enthusiastic audiences.
The opening act will be the Local Poet Showcase, featuring Brenda Sebern of Salida.. There will also be an open mike segment with signups starting at 6:45 pm. Participants are asked to bring several poems to read in a round robin format.
The Paquette Gallery is located in the SteamPlant Event Center at 220 W. Sackett Avenue in Salida. The event is free, with donations accepted. Donations are used exclusively to pay expenses for the production of spoken word events produced by The Poetry Consorts of Central Colorado. More information is available from the SteamPlant at 719-530-0933.
