Join us in observing the Transgender Day of Remembrance here in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. We will be meeting at the SteamPlant Event Center at the small park next to the river by the boatramp. There will be a short vigil led by Marquita Oliver. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
Bring a jacket (it may be cold by the river) and send us a list of the names you would like to honor and we will read them at the event. Bring candles, any snacks you’d like to share, etc. We will have hot chocolate available.
A free film is playing at the SteamPlant (Harold and Maude) at 7 p.m. if you would like to join us.
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
Additionally, during the week of November 14-20, individuals and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people and address the issues these communities face.
