Salida’s SteamPlant Event Center is hosting an exhibition by Salida artist Fay Golson in the Paquette Gallery through June 29.

In this retrospective exhibition, Stepping Stones III, Golson’s mixed media assemblages and abstract oil paintings reflect her progress on the artist’s path over the past 30 years.

“I let the work tell me which mediums would best express the desired outcome,” she shared.

“Rarely does a work follow my expectation or plan but seems to be layered with subtle changes in direction along the way. In my opinion, this is what makes art exciting and fresh. I will never tire of the joy of making art.”

Golson’s journey began early in life when her mother delivered a set of tempera paints to her room. Golson said the process of mixing two primary colors to form a third was magical to her.

Golson earned a degree in Interior Design from the School of Architecture at Auburn University and ran the award-winning Articulation Gallery, Inc., which featured more than 30 national artists. Her current workspace, Apogee Studio, is in Salida.
