Marie EvB Gibbons will exhibit 80 individual pieces of her unique clay artwork in Salida through April 8 at Sellars Project Space.

An exhibition of 3-D wall and pedestal works by internationally recognized artist Marie EvB Gibbons will open in Salida Saturday, April 8, with an artist’s reception from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sellars Project Space, 101 N. F St., Suite 202. Gibbons will lead a special walk-through of the exhibit from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to discuss her work, her inspiration and her history as an artist.

“My work tells stories,” said the Denver-based artist about her unique style and technique. “It discusses the trials, tribulations, joys and frustrations in life – my own, and those that I witness.

Gibbons said she does not work in the traditional manner of clay artists. “I finish my clay work in post-fired finishes. I use a variety of mediums applied after the work is fired in order to achieve the completed look that I have in my mind’s eye,” she said, by incorporating acrylic paints and washes, inks, waxes, iron surfacers and resins.

The exhibition is presented by Sellars Project Space and continues through May 8 weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment by calling 719-221-9893.
