Salida – Tammy Grubisha is a one of a kind Salida gem. Her work has been described as functional art. But , in a 2011 piece by Jennifer Dempsey in Central Colorado Magazine, she states, “It was difficult naming my business because of all the things I do… I gave up trying to label what I do long ago. There are people who wouldn’t call me an artist, and some who wouldn’t call me a welder. All I know is I love what I do, it’s my gift to this world, and I make myself and other people happy with my creations.” This shows up as furniture, lighting and even pot and pan holders with a ravishing sense of style. Tammy has been commisioned for interior design and furnitutre design type pieces for many local Salidans. She produces some incredibly inventive pieces that show she could have easily sidetracked into engineering, but the results may not have been so lovely.
